BATFN Board of Directors: Michael O'Hare, University of California, Berkeley

Michael O'Hare is Professor of Public Policy at the Goldman School of Public Policy and a faculty affiliate of the Energy and Resources Group, at the University of California at Berkeley. He teaches Arts and Cultural Policy, Risk and Optimization Modeling, and irregularly, environmental policy, public management, and policy design. He has been involved in a variety of energy and environment research since the 1970s, when he was a faculty member at MIT, and in environmental policy since his service in the Massachusetts Executive office of Environmental Affairs thereafter. Currently he is especially concerned with the relationship between deforestation, induced through international food and commodity markets by increasing production of biofuels, and its implications for the global warming costs or benefits of displacing fossil fuel with biofuels from crops.

O'Hare has a PhD in Engineering, and professional degrees in architecture and engineeering, all from Harvard.
